Conserved sequences

Is there a website that would be useful to learn more about conserved
DNA or protein sequences?

One reads about gene X being 90% conserved among eukaryotes and protein
Y being 80% conserved. Is this type of information compiled somewhere,
especially alignments of conserved sequences?

I am searching for conserved genes for which PCR primers may be designed
to synthesize probes for Northern blots. I am in search of a gene which
is likely to be expressed at a relatively constant rate, regardless of
physiological state, to use as a control. Something like actin or 18S
rRNA. Thanks for any helpful suggestions.
