MASAMB-XI
11th Annual Meeting on
Mathematical and Statistical Aspects of Molecular Biology
Isaac Newton Institute for Mathematical Sciences, Cambridge
Tuesday 20th March - Wednesday 21st March, 2001
Scientific Organisers: David Balding (Department of Applied
Statistics, University of Reading), Nick Goldman (Department of
Zoology, University of Cambridge), Nuala Sheehan (Department of
Epidemiology & Public Health, University of Leicester)
The 11th annual meeting on Mathematical and Statistical Aspects of
Molecular Biology will be held at the Isaac Newton Institute for the
Mathematical Sciences, Cambridge, on Tuesday 20th March and Wednesday
21st March, 2001. The meeting aims to bring together mathematicians,
statisticians, biologists and computer scientists who have common
research interests in the analysis of molecular biological data.
The meeting will follow its familiar format, with 12-15 approximately
half-hour talks selected from participants' applications. These will
run from early afternoon on 20th March until afternoon tea on 21st
March, with ample opportunities provided for discussion. The cost of
attendance at the meeting (academic rate) will be 85UKP (full
residential) or 60UKP (without accommodation), with some reduction
available for students.
After the main part of MASAMB-XI, it will be possible for one or more
'special interest groups' ('SIGs') to take advantage of the presence
of like-minded scientists and make use of the Newton Institute's
facilities to stage further talks, continued discussions, etc. SIGs
could take place in the later part of the afternoon of 21st March, or
on Thursday 22nd March. The MASAMB-XI Scientific Organisers are
dependent on others to propose and organise any SIGs: please contact
any of them to discuss proposals. Please note that plans for any SIGs
must be fully agreed by 15th December 2000.
This will be the only posting of this notice!
Please inform your colleagues of this notice!
If you would like to attend the meeting, or simply receive further
information, it is vital that you complete the form available from
http://www.newton.cam.ac.uk/masamba.html
or by email from Tracey Andrew (t.andrew at newton.cam.ac.uk)
and return it before 15th December 2000. Further information will only
be sent to registered applicants. Accommodation will be quite limited
for this meeting, and it is important that we get accurate estimates
of numbers attending as soon as possible. Completed forms should be
sent (preferably by e-mail) to:
Tracey Andrew (t.andrew at newton.cam.ac.uk) Isaac Newton Institute for
Mathematical Sciences, 20 Clarkson Road, Cambridge CB3 0EH, UK
For further details regarding the scientific content of the meeting,
contact Nuala Sheehan (nas11 at leicester.ac.uk), Department of
Epidemiology & Public Health, University of Leicester, 22-28 Princess
Road West, Leicester LE1 6TP, UK. Regarding the local organisation,
contact Tracey Andrew (address as above). Information on the meeting
will be available on the WWW via
