I do not know/recall how many genes it has, but as for
bacteria go (I presume this is too many genes for a
virus, etc), methanococcus seems to have very few genes
and the entire genome of this organism has been more or
less completely sequenced for some years now. You may wish
to look at methanococcus publications.
