Dear colleague,
Derivation of molecular phylogeny relies largely on multiple alignment
of orthologous gene sequences. It is assumed that mutation and/or
deletion or insertion play a key role in evolution. I would like to ask:
1) How far the periodicity in DNA sequences could be conceptually
correlated to mutation?
2) Is there any evidence for the alteration of periodicity during
evolution?
