Post-doctoral research assistant at the Natural History Museum, London

A three-year fixed-term appointment to work on The geological history of
deep-sea colonization by irregular echinoids is available at the Natural
History Museum. This is a NERC-funded project jointly led by Dr. Andrew
Smith and Dr. Tim Littlewood. The post is available from April, 2001. The
successful candidate will be involved in tree-based analyses combining
morphological, molecular and palaeontological data. Applicants must have
completed their Ph. D. and have a strong background in invertebrate
systematics. Experience of gene sequencing or knowledge of echinoid biology
and systematics would clearly help but neither is essential as training will
be provided.

Contact a.smith at nhm.ac.uk for more information or send a covering letter
explaining why you are the obvious choice for us, together with the names,
addresses and email contacts for two referees.

Closing date February 28th, 2001

Send applications to Dr Andrew B. Smith, Department of Palaeontology, The
Natural History Museum, London SW7 5BD, UK. a.smith at nhm.ac.uk (electronic
submissions encouraged).
