One postdoctoral fellow position is available immediately to join our
project on Genome and QTL Mapping of Traits Related to Growth and Adaptation
to Climate Change in Black Spruce. The successful candidate is expected to
work on EST sequencing, gene discovery, EST-based marker development and
genetic linkage mapping in black spruce. The successful candidate will be a
part of the team of a PDF, two biotechnologists and two Ph.D. students
working on this project, and will interact actively with project
co-investigators and several researchers from the participating and
collaborating government and industry organizations.

Applications are invited from highly motivated candidates, who are recent
Ph.D. graduates in a relevant discipline, have a strong background in plant
molecular genetics and molecular biology techniques, are innovative in their
research and capable of working with a minimum of supervision, and have
excellent writing skills to prepare high quality manuscripts for
international journals and project reports. Candidates should have
experience in DNA and RNA isolation and analysis, cloning and genomic and/or
cDNA library construction, DNA sequencing, primer design, marker development
and genotyping. Working experience on molecular genetics of a conifer
system, high throughput genotyping and genome mapping is highly desirable.

The position is for a minimum of two years. However, initial appointment
will be made for one year. Candidates should send a letter of application,
including a brief statement of their background and research interests, CV,
and the names and contact addresses of at least three referees to Dr. Om P.
Rajora. Applications will be accepted until a suitable candidate is found
and the position is filled.
