nice to see this group. i am a new commer to this group. i have some questions regarding the molecular evolutionary analysis during my experimentation. please help me.
I am working with two proteins which are members of a protein super family. earlier they both were taught to be involved in two different cellular functions. recent studies indicate that, these two proteins although have two different functions, one of them can also perfome the fucntions of the other proteins fucntion. so decided to do the evolutionary studies of these proteins. i have got the homologs of both the protines and other proteins of this family from distant organisums and did alignment and found that one of them has arousen by the gene duplication in lower eukaryots. how ever i am not sure how to further prove that they are arising from the same duplicated proteins.
can any one suggest me the kind of analysis to do. how to draw inferences.
i know this kind of question is foolish. but i am learning it. kindly help me. if any one of u are in switzerland. i can even come and discusse with you.
