Hi all,
I've got a naive philosophical question: since prokaryotes can gain
genetic material by non-genealogical tranfer (horizontal gene transfer
events)
and then transmit it to their next generation, being aware that there is
a contradiction between gene-level reflections and Lamarkism
and that the gained exogenous genetic materials are under selective
pressure, can HGT events be considered as part of a Lamarckian process?
Kind regards,
Adam
