ANNOUNCEMENT: UCLA-DOE Fold-Recognition Benchmark Home Page Available
The UCLA-DOE Fold-Recognition Benchmark WWW Home Page is now available.
With the recent explosion of new methods for fold recognition,
an objective way to evaluate their performance is needed.
We have developed a benchmark to assess the performance of
fold-recognition methods. The benchmark consists of a
set of protein sequences matched by superposition to known
structures. This set covers a wide range of protein families,
and includes matching proteins with insignificant sequence similarity.
The method being evaluated takes each probe sequence and searches in a
library of folds for the most compatible one.
The performance of a method is evaluated based on its performance on the
benchmark's set of proteins.
