((I think this is it, and I'm sorry if this is NOT the right group, but...))
there was a recent post regarding suggestions for inexpensive molecular
drawing/modeling software. I responded to the individual (and seem to
recall seeing someone else posting similar info to the group) about a
"limited" version of ChemOffice by CambridgeSoft. I had mentioned that
I did not know the extent of the "limitations", but would try to find out.
I finally got tired of waiting for a response to emails (plural), and
used the phone. (Remember that?) The story is this:
ChemOffice (academic) goes for $599, and I won't list the features here.
The LIMITED version ($99) is exactly that. It will allow you to draw
structures using some (limited) templates and other drawing tools, but
does not have any energy calculation or even MW calculations. According
to the phone person, it's little more than a MacDraw for chemists.
IMHO, it's REALLY just what they call it - limited. Good luck!
