Does anybody know any recent publications about the evolutionary
differentiation of pineal and parapineal organs. As you may
or may not know, the vertebrate ancestors are supposed to have
had four eyes, two lateral and two dorsal ones, and the dorsal
eyes have developed into those pineal-like organs. The dorsal
eyes/pineal organs in existing species may have arisen from
either of those dorsal eyes in ancient fish.
