Tip links and hair cells

Hair cell tip links can apparently move up and down adjacent stereocilium
through the action of actin and myosin. Are there any ideas on how the
tip link is attached to this actin and myosin? Does the tip link pierce
the stereociliums membrane? Or is it attached outside? But that wouldnt
work due to fluid character of the membrane. Or would it?
