Idiopathic Painful Small Fiber Neuropathy

My mother suffers from burning feet, accompanied by slight swelling and
redness. The symptoms are most prevalent when she sits or lies down.
She has suffered this condition for two years, and the pain is so bad
that she soaks her feet in cool water in order to stand it.

She has been to doctors, specialists, acupuncturists, as well as
herbalists and chiropractors. In addition, she has had spinal taps,
MRIs, and X-rays. All to no avail. She has tried most medicine, again
to no avail.

At this point, her primary physician has given up, and is prescribing
painkillers in hopes of at least deadening the pain.

Does anyone have any idea of possible treatments. She is in severe
pain and has not hope of abatement.

Thank you.
