Cell Culture Development - Associate Level
Location: Indianapolis, IN United States 

This Associate will be part of a development team preparing highly
productive cell lines to produce pharmaceutical proteins.

Job Responsibilities:

Technical: A mammalian cell or molecular biologist is needed to
develop and implement innovative methods for cell line construction
and genotypic improvement. The scientist will work with a team of
molecular and cell biologists to prepare highly productive cell lines
to produce pharmaceutical proteins. The work will involve fundamental
research to discover and manipulate genetic traits to provide enhanced
expression of authentic recombinant proteins and other beneficial
characteristics for host cell lines.

Communication: The position requires discussion of results and formal
presentations of seminars and written reports.

Quality/Compliance: The individual will be responsible for detailed
and accurate record keeping of raw data and analyses in lab notebooks
and for compliance with area, departmental and corporate safety

Self-Management: The individual is responsible for maintaining their
training plans, actively participating in the Performance Management
Process (setting objectives which are aligned to the departmental
objectives) and seeking feedback from customers and peers.

Other Information: The successful candidate will work in an area with
cell culture reagents. Also they may handle bio-safety level 1 and 2

Travel Requirements: limited.


Associate Level: BS / MS in a Biological sciences discipline such as
Biochemistry, Cell or Molecular Biology.

Candidate will have worked in the BioTech/Pharmaceutical Industry . 
Must have early phase protein development experience. 

Must also have skills in any of the following: Cell Culture, Media
Development, Scale-up, etc.

Hands on mammalian cell culture experience, gene manipulation, plasmid
construction, transfection, cell-line selection and genome analysis of
mammalian cells.

A strong preference for industrial experience in the construction of
high expressing mammalian cell lines (CHO, HEK293, BHK, myeloma).
Quantitative analysis of data. 
Innovation and creativity.
Motivation skills. 
Develop and improve performance capability. 
The candidate will have experience in mammalian cell molecular biology
with a proven track record for scientific innovation.
Good oral and written communication skills are essential for effective
interfacing with other groups in discovery, manufacturing, and
regulatory affairs.

He/she will have demonstrated the capability of independent and
original research related to protein expression, through publications
and/or patents.
Teamwork/Interpersonal skills. 
Industrial experience is not essential for this position, but would be
considered an advantage.
Strong self-management skills are required to maintain a balance
between daily work and special projects.
