Announcing an intensive summer workshop at the Santa Fe Institute:
FROM NEURON TO NETWORK--BIOPHYSICALLY-BASED FUNCTIONAL MODELS
Dates: July 27 August 8, 2003
Location: Santa Fe Institute, Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA
Housing: St. Johns College, Santa Fe, NM
Organizing Committee: Hanna Parnas (Hebrew University), Lee Segel
(Weizmann Institute of Science), Terry Sejnowski (Salk Institute)
DESCRIPTION
This workshop is designed for graduate students, postdocs and junior
faculty members with a solid knowledge of neurobiology and an interest
in using theory. The tasks of the workshop are to introduce participants
to hands-on computer simulations of small neuronal networks, to realize
the ability of such models to explain selected experimental results, and
to provide a vision of future uses of models and simulations in
providing understanding of function in large neuronal networks, as in
the brain. Enrollment is limited and is by application.
COSTS
No tuition is charged. Housing and meals will be provided, at no cost to
participants, at St. John's College in Santa Fe, NM. Housing will be in
single dormitory rooms with shared bathrooms. Some travel funding is
available.
