Noldus Information Technology is pleased to announce the release of a
new version of The Observer, its software tool for the collection and
analysis of obsertvational data. For details, see
http://www.observer5.com. The most important new features of version
5.0 are:

- The Observer 5.0 supports the latest video technology. You can
score data directly from a DVD. You can create a complete mobile
observation system by connecting a digital camcorder directly to a
notebook computer via a FireWire (IEEE 1394) cable. Also new is the
possibility to create highlight video clips directly from within The

- If you use the Psion Workabout for data collection, the process of
transferring configuration files to the handheld device, as well as
copying observational data files to the PC, has become much easier.

- A Report Generator is now available as add-on module. This feature
makes it easy to create a customized report, mixing static and
variable text and graphics, immediately after finishing your
observation. The Observer can automatically add information about the
set-up, methods or results, plus relevant video snapshots, your own
logo, or other references.

- With Dual MPEG Encoding, another new add-on module for The
Observer, you can record and score from two video streams at once.

- We have added backup and restore functions. This makes it much
easier to transfer and distribute your Observer projects.

This is just a small selection of the enhancements. For more
