         Assistant Professor of Horticulture - Molecular Biology
 
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:   This is a twelve month, tenure-track,
research and teaching position in the Department of Horticulture and
Landscape Architecture.  The successful candidate must develop a basic
research program utilizing molecular genetics or cellular biology to
address problems and opportunities important to Kentucky horticulture.  The
applicant is expected to secure outside funding for research, publish research
in refereed journals and foster intra- and interdepartmental research.
Teaching a graduate level course in the incumbent's area of expertise and
advising graduate students are expected.  Approximate assignment: 90%
research and 10% teaching.
QUALIFICATIONS:   Ph.D. in horticulture, molecular genetics, plant
physiology, plant biochemistry, or a related plant science field with an
emphasis in molecular biology or genetics is required.  Educational
background and/or experience with horticultural crops and
postdoctoral training are desirable.  The individual should possess the ability
to function within a team and to communicate effectively.

RANK:   Assistant Professor
SALARY AND FRINGE BENEFITS:   Salary open and competitive.  TIAA-
CREF retirement and group health and life insurance are available.  Annual
leave and consulting leave are provided.
