some kind of radiation from plants

When I was young my mother and I was out to collecting flowers. When we took 
of a piece of a flower, we felt some kind of resistance outside where the piece
had been. It felt like the piece was still there.
This statement may sound crazy but our experience was very strong.My question 
to you is if you know something about such phenomen ?I am a biology student in 
graduate level so i understand higher biology terms.
