Alta Vista turned up trumps (did you try that?). It's Oleander (Nerium
Oleander). Go to http://www.streetside.com/plants/floridata/ref/n/nerium.htm
for general botanical details.
It does grow in the British Isles but really only in the south-western parts
and the Channel Islands. Elsewhere it needs protection from the elements.
Now, about this molecule I found. It's got hydrogen, oxygen and carbon atoms
in it and in Arabic it's called . . .
