                         Plant Biologist

     The Biology Department of St. Michael's College invites
applications for a tenure-track position in plant biology at the
Assistant Professor level, to begin Fall 1996.  The successful
applicant will have the Ph.D. and extensive experience in plant
biochemistry and/or molecular biology.  Teaching requirements
will include one upper-level course in plant biology each
semester, participation in a team-taught general biology course
for majors, and nonmajors courses.  Total teaching load is 21
hours per year.  Responsibilities also will include direction of
undergraduate research, advising, and service to the college
community. Previous teaching and post-doctoral experience are
preferred.  Faculty are expected to be active in research.

Chair, Human Resources, St. Michael's College, Winooski Park,
