[Plant-education] recruiting question

We are anticipating a faculty search next academic year and are 
debating the advantages and disadvantages of a fall versus a spring 
search.

One of our colleagues has opined that most searches are in the fall 
and, therefore, the pool of qualified applicants is much weaker in 
the spring.

Does anyone have any information, anecdotal or otherwise, to support 
or refute this notion?
