UV monitor

Dear Colleagues,

I am trying to complete a low pressure protein crystallography system. A
flow UV monitor (280 nm) and a recorder is missing.
It was offered to me, by a certain company, a flow monitor, but it can
only send an analogical signal to a recorder. Therefore, I am obluged to
also buy the recorder (and its price is the same of a PC).
Nowadays, I see no point in buying recorders. Would it not be much
easier if this sign could be sent to a computer and a table with something
like Time x Absorbance be built ? Then, copy/paste to any ghaphical program
(like, eg, excel or other free stuff) can make the chromatogram, with all
the facilities of manipulation, colors, storage, etc, etc...
So, the question: do you know of any such device (UV monitor, 280 nm)
which can send the absorbance sign (I suppose analogical) to a PC and a
simple software to put it in a table like Time x Absorbance (just to collect
the data) ? Would there be the need of a special cable to connect it to the
PC ? To which kind of PC port ?
If such thing is possible, I would be saving much money on a recorder
and buying something which serve for many other things (PC).
I thank you for any shared experience on this.
