Regarding isolation of CMV from stools, I'm not sure it is easy, but we
have isolated CMV from stool specimen from an AIDS patient. The stool
specimen was clarified by centrifugation at 10,000 xg and MRC-5 cultures
inoculated with supernatant fluid. I would recommend both culture and
shell vial for isolation.
