Recently, Casssandra Smith wrote "I think that introducing ouselves is a good way to start to see who is out there". I think that's a great idea. I am new
to the system - My name is Gina Berardesco and I am a 4th year Ph. D. student
at Univ. Massachusetts in Boston. I am working on PAH degrading populations
of bacteria in the Harbor sediments. I am interested in pop. genetics of bacteria
and microbial ecology in general. I am definetly interested in networking
and mentoring. This campus only has a few graduate programs and we
are spread out - sometimes I feel a bit isolated.
Last year I went through the excruciating ordeal of having to take
my oral comp. exam twice. (I panicked the first time). If anyone out there
has to or just went through such a thing, please feel free to contact me to
gripe, blow off steam or to get some sympathy.
