I've just read the past couple of months' postings on this list. The
discussion about when to have children is relevant to me because I'm planning
on pursuing the academia/research career and very much want a family.
(Introduction: I am a candidate for an honors AB degree in Biology
at Brown University.)
One issue related to children that was not mentioned was the money
factor. If you are working towards a PhD, or waiting for a grant/professorship
etc., do you have enough money to support a child? Given, a husband can help,
but what if he is in a similar situation, or (worse) in med school?
I'd appreciate any insights.
Thanks,
Deb
