I have volunteered to present part of a "brown bag" seminar on syllabus
construction for college level courses next Tuesday. From previous reading
of this newsgroup I have gotten the impression that quite a few subscribers
of this news group are involved in college teaching. Thus, I wish to ask a
few questions.
My questions are:
Did you receive any assistance in the preparation of syllabi for your
courses, especially when you were new to teaching?
Did (Does) your institution have any part of faculty orientation devoted
to syllabus construction or development?
Is there any mentoring program regarding syllabus construction available at
your institution for new or returning faculty?
How have you attempted to produce better syllabi for your courses?
