Go for it! Medical Schools also look for volunteerism in medical
situations besides outstanding grades. Columbia University in NYC has
a program designed to help people gather the credentials and grades
that are needed to be accepted. I believe their program has a very
high acceptance rate. I do not know whether you are flexible enough to
go there but simply finding out the kind of things they emphasize
should be useful
