POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in discipline directly related to critical environmental issues, and
qualifications to hold an academic appointment in one or more university departments. Academic
background which includes demonstrated broad multi-disciplinary interest, demonstrated ability to
raise funds, and experience in building and working with multi-disciplinary groups, across academic
disciplines, within and outside of the university. Demonstrated ability to see the "big picture" with
regard to environmental issues.
Preferred Qualifications: Extensive contacts with government agencies at both the State and
Federal level. Experience with private foundations, both local and national.
Duties: The director will develop detailed set of goals and objectives for the Center and will insure
that the Center's program is carried out. He or she will report to the Provost and serve as the main
liaison among the university administration, faculty, and various constituencies. Tasks include
facilitating the development of environmental curricula, convening multi-disciplinary teams to carry
out collaborative research on significant environmental issues, facilitating multi/interdisciplinary
collaborative research on environmental issues, and working creatively with government agencies,
private cooperation, nonprofit agencies, and other stakeholders in northeast Ohio. The director will
be a catalyst for developing public/private/state/federal partnerships and leveraging resources for
support of large-scale regional environmental projects.
Salary Range: Negotiable, based on qualifications and experience.
Starting Date: Negotiable; Preferred starting date is January 1, 1996.
