thesis supervisor as co-author?

I thought of this too.  My name's not noticeable in the halls of plant 
biology, but my thesis advisor's might get someone to come see my 
poster.  I know I often check "whose lab are they from" when trying to 
decide which posters at a meeting I can make time to see in depth-there 
are always more I'd like to see than I can do justice to, and those on 
the periphery  of my own research interests usually have to have some 
kind of name recognition to make my list.
