Dorothee-UU stands for (contrary to Laurel's post) Unitarian
Universalist. It began as an anti-Trinity movement during the
Reformation. John Calvin burned at the stake one of the early Unitarians
(Michael Servetus) for heresy. Transylvania in the 15th and 16th
centuries was a hotbed of Unitarian activity. Here in the US, the
Unitarian church merged with the Universalists (another anti-Calvinist
denomination) in 1960. We believe in the "inherent worth and dignity of
every human being", "a free and principled search for truth" (not just in
the Bible, but in any tradition), and "respect for the interdependent web
of life".
Did I explain this well enough, Karen, Laurel, and Linnea?
