Well, I've learned that we up here in WA state are very lucky to get
Veteran's Day off (also Presidents Day and Memorial Day!). We also get
July 4, December 25, and January 1 off. What lazy bums we are. Like Rae,
we have to work on snow days. On those days, you see lots of children
here, as most parents are in the same boat--snow days turn into unofficial
"take our daughters/sons to work days." I feel lucky that I can bring
my kids to work if need be. Where my husband works, at a private biotech
company, parents are forbidden to bring their children into the labs, even
after business hours, due to safety concerns.
