This situation bears some thinking and planning for all of us.
One of my dearest friends is a Ph.D. in Chem Engineering specializing in
environmental testing and analysis.. She is 50 years of age. She until
July 1997 had worked 20 years for a very well established small firm. Was
extremely well respected in the specific area of OSHA regulations.
Overnight, without previous warning, the firm was sold, the assets
distributed and the employees given a mighty meager "golden hand shake".
She was the only female in the company, The Board of Directors who made
the swift decision were all male. Now Whence?
