Announcing a postdoctoral position in
Plant Molecular Systematics
in the Department of Plant Biology
at the University of Minnesota
Three years of NSF support are available
for molecular phylogenetic studies of
Moraceae. Multiple genes and morphology
will be used to study the diversification
of the family and to infer patterns of
inflorescence evolution. Of special
interest are correlates of breeding
systems and the origin of the coevolved
pollination mutualism in Ficus. There
are opportunities for field pollination
studies in New Caledonia and
Papua New Guinea. Experience with
cloning, DNA sequencing and phylogenetic
analysis is desirable. Starting date in
Spring 2002 is negotiable. Applicants
