Research  Technician

  Howard Hughes Medical Institute, the nation's largest private 
philanthropic organization, conducts scientific research at leading 
academic medical centers throughout the United States.  Currently we 
are seeking a trained Crystallographic Technician to oversee the 
operation and maintenance of the X-ray diffraction facilities as well 
as other electronic equipment for our site at the Rockefeller 
University.

  Responsibilities involve maintaining three Rigaku RU 200 
rotating-anode x-ray generators, Rigaku RAXIS-II area detectors, 
liquid nitrogen cryosystems and related equipment.  As an 
Instrumentation Technician, you will be responsible for aligning the 
x-ray optics and providing day-to-day maintenance.  In addition, you 
will train lab members on the use of equipment, supervise utilization, 
and will serve as a liason with the University's Computing Services 
Department.  Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in Physics, 
Chemistry or Engineering and excellent management and communications 
skills.  Four years of related experience in X-ray crystallography or 
material science is preferred.
