Finally a veterinary question! Brewers yeast is a supposed to be a great
source of B vitamins. It has been used (with or without the addition of
garlic) as a wive's tale treatment for fleas. My daughters science project took
live fleas and fed them Brewers yeast. I now can say for sure that it does not
adversely affect fleas. In fact, it seemed to energize them (the fleas). I
have never heard of an adverse affect in using Brewers yeast at recommended
doses although I am not sure of any beneficial affect, either.

I am sure that your neighborhood pet store sells brewers yeast.
