Hello--a patient has prostatitis and benign prostatic hypertrophy for which he
has taken antibiotics--biaxin, bactrim, trovan, cipro, levaquin--SINCE AUGUST.
he drank 2 bottles of beer in a 4 1/2 hour period. he was stopped by
policeman, breathalyzed, and a BAC of .14 (which would require a 200 lb man to
drink 9 to 11 beers to achieve over this time period)was obtained. Question:
could chronic antibiotic therapy cause any type of yeast
prolifeeration/pathology and could that increase his BAC?
EMERGENCY
Thanks,
