Thank you, David, for the comprehensive list. I did not see MACROPHYTE, a
term used by aquatic botanists to refer to non-algae plants (I know, the
algae are no longer considered plants). I have occasionally seen it used
in terrestrial ecology, but the need for the word was in the aquatic
system. People have had trouble dealing with Chara and its relatives,
however, and I have seen it included with the macrophytes.
